I prefer naturals because for me they just work better. That said, I'm pretty much open to the use of synthetics.
I've been trying the micro UV straggle this season, but it just hasn't scored for me yet. Can't say I've really given it a fair trial yet though as usually the flies I've tied with it have gone on when all else has failed.

Natural materials have served me better this season ,maybe its because of the different shades of claret and golden olives i have been using ,picric dyed materials have featured a lot in my flies this season ,as have dyed guinea fowl and grey partridge ,flies with deer hair wings have scored well for me .

Glister is the only Synthetic material I have been converted to in the last few years. And still is it best to use only a little ( I normally blend 4 parts seals fur to 1 part glister), it adds a bit of extra life to some of the traditionals without going over the top.
Of all the colors I find peathingy black and tan to be the most usefull. The "red" glister does not seem to work for me - and I have tried it on all sorts of flies.
That said, I do have one very good pattern which has a body of 100% glister (half tan and half peathingy black) - and is my best fly for Daphnia feeders on Kerry lakes.
In terms of straggle fritz I tried it on a lot of traditional patterns this year and although the flies looked the biz the fish did not agree. However, I have the winter in front of the vice to try again.

Been using it for salmon fly bodies as well !

I have managed to obtain a dubbing box full of ice dub in 12 colours so will be adding a little of this to some of my flies to see what happens.
